I was born July 26, 1933, in Rakvice, in the Breclav district. After graduating from a classic gymnazium (high school), I studied history at Masaryk University in Brno and Jagellon University in Krakow. I worked as a teacher in Ostrava high schools and as an expert assistant at educational institutes in Brno and Ostrava. I've reached the peak of my teaching profession at the Faculty of Philosophy at Masaryk University in Brno, where I've been a prefessor of history since 1992. In my research work, I deal with the history of the Roma, with special emphasis on the Romani Holocaust, about which I've written a number of specialist essays and books.

Professor Ctibor Necas primarily deals with Roma history, he doesn't feel called on to express his opinion on the current state of the Roma. He believes that whoever finds a formula for the peaceful coexistence of Czechs and Roma deserves the Nobel prize. This very clearly conveys how Ctibor Necas sees the social existence of Czechs and Roma in the Czech Republic today.
