Ceferino Jiménez Malla "El Pelé"
27-03-2000
From the Spanish Cale family, Cefferino never went to school or learned to
read or write. Although he made his living as a horse dealer, he was devoted to
teaching the Gospel of the Catholic Church to the Romani community. He was
persecuted for his faith which led to his death in 1936. The Church canonized
him as a martyr, and then as a saint in May 1997.
