Visa Requirement? - No need for concern, says Britain
19-05-1999
Radio Prague, May 19th - The Czech daily, Pravo, published an article in which it noted that Czech Interior Minister, Vaclav Grulich, informed the paper that in a recent meeting with the British Ambassador to Prague, he was warned that Britain is contemplating on the imposition of a visa requirement to the Czech Republic, due to the growing number of asylum seekers that have made their way into Britain as tourists. The imminent reaction was great concern but it appears that this warning was not as serious as it sounded. In this respect, Radio Prague telephoned the Press Secretary of the British Embassy in Prague, Mr. Giles Portman, and asked him first how much of this meeting between the Interior Minister and the British Ambassador was true:
